Origin: Native to Mexico and the southern United States
Description: Agave americana, the yellow agave or pita, is a perennial plant belonging to the family Agavaceae.
It is a perennial acaule plant resistant to arid soils. The succulent leaves are large (1-2 meters by 15-25 cm), lanceolate, bluish-white, grayish-white, green or variegated. It has been distributed globally as an ornamental and naturalized plant in many regions, from South America, the Mediterranean Basin, Asia, India, Australia and New Caledonia.
