Description: It is a deciduous tree, 10-20 m tall, although it can reach more than 25 m. The trunk, widened in its lower third, serves to store water in times of drought.
It has several local common names: drunk stick, bottle tree, toborochi, wool tree, rosewood, samohú, lupuna female.
This species is mainly cultivated as an ornamental plant. It is often found in urban streets of cities in Spain, South Africa, Australia, northern New Zealand and the southern United States. It is a frequent tree in the provinces of Valencia, Malaga or Cadiz, having warm climates with mild winters devoid of frost.
