Description: Nerium oleander is the only accepted species belonging to the genus Nerium, of the family Apocynaceae.
They are trees or shrubs up to 6 meters tall, perennials.
It was originally found as a native plant in a wide area that covered the banks of the Mediterranean basin up to China, Vietnam. Today it is an invasive plant in the United States due to its introduction as an ornamental crop, even urban, also as in many areas of arid temperate climate. It is common in Argentina, Uruguay, in gardens and as a median highway separation fence, as in California, Spain, Australia. It has been introduced in tropical countries such as Colombia, Venezuela and Panama.
