Description: It is a large or small arboriform shrub between 6 and 15 meters tall, with deciduous leaves between 4 and 6 cm long, with sawn edges, sharp, glabrous apexes, except the central nerve on the underside and dark purple color.
It is an ornamental garden tree very popular for its very early flowering. Various cultivars have been developed for their purple foliage and pink flowers.
